Reunion!
Organized by the Association of Kokosing and Thoreau
What: Reunion
When: Labor Day Weekend, September 1-3, 2007
Where: On Miller Pond in Strafford Vt.
(you know, where Camp was)
Who: Family, Staff, and Friends from any Camps Kokosing and Thoreau
Why: Really now…
How: Show up, enjoy!

In 2005 the camps of Kokosing, Thoreau in Vermont, and Thoreau in New York all had wonderful reunions.  Now it’s time to bring us all together in the heart of Vermont.  Let’s finish off the summer of 2007 with a great gathering; share stories and pictures, make music, enjoy activities and meals together.  See the program and sign-up if you have ideas or things you’d like to offer.

Program: How does a hike in the woods sound?  How about some boating or swimming?  Anyone for yoga, a square dance, or a game of ultimate?  Who’s offering singing by the chairs?  Or some arts and crafts?  The event is hosted by the Association of Kokosing and Thoreau and by the owners of the property, Camp Group, through their operation called Lakeside Retreats.  Lakeside will provide life guards and meal staff but the rest of the site use and events are up to us.  Take a look at the tentative schedule and sign-up with ideas and/or programs you’d like to lead.

Lodging: Register for on-site stays where we will share cabin space and guest house rooms at very reasonable rate.  You can also pitch a tent on-site.  If you prefer off site, there are Bed & Breakfasts, Inns and Hotels in the area, some are offer special rates for our event.  These are on a first-come, first-serve basis so contact them soon.

Meals: Register for any or all meals from Saturday morning through Monday morning.  Don’t forget to tell us if you have any special dietary considerations.  We’ll do our best to accommodate everyone.
  1. Look at, fill out, and print out the price sheet. Decide which days you want to stay and where.  You can reserve a room/bed, or bring a tent, or you can stay in a local hotel.  (If you have excel you can download this version of the price sheet which will calculate the costs. Snazzy huh?)
  2. Fill out then print out the registration form to let us know you're coming.
  3. Snail mail a check to Mike Vecchiarelli:
    2055 A Route 2
    Shelburne Falls, Ma. 01370
Please make checks payable to Mike Vecchiarelli.
  4. Make your travel plans! (car pool, pedal, walk?)
There is an Amtrak and Bus station in White River Junction.  The nearest large airports are Boston's Logan International and Hartford/Springfield's Bradley international. There is a municipal airport in Lebanon, N.H. If there is enough interest, we may be able to charter buses from NYC, Boston, or Philly.
  5. Post a message on the new message board to tell people you are coming, ride share, or send regrets.

Please don't let cost stop you. Similarly, if you can send extra for the support of others who might not be able to afford the trip let me know.

Finally, if you are reading this on the new web site then you know we are hoping to re-open camp and will be soliciting support for this oh-so-worthy endeavor!!!
